SERVICE PROJECTS

Carleva Bay is a large, beachside villa with rooms that can accommodate double, triple, or quadruple occupancy, and occasionally more! We have three spacious bedrooms, each with its own en suite full bathroom. The Great Hall, our massive living room, is perfect for large gatherings, classes, or events. Do you like great food? Our kitchen is well suited for groups, small or large, and is also equipped for catered events. Like dining al fresco? The courtyard is the heart of our home, a place where we dine under the stars with a beautiful view of the sea–we have even held family movie nights here!  We are committed to providing the environment in which relaxation, community service, and experientially-rich learning occurs. In context, we offer:

  • A growing assortment of projects from an environment challenging us to make the world a better place.

  • A carefully formulated advising service that focuses intently on adjustment as well as on any cultural challenges faced by students and volunteers.

  • In-country presence, which helps with orientation, extra-mural activities, and addresses other concerns of the visitor/student.

  • Productive interfacing with local universities the University of the West Indies and the University of Technology from which instructors and guest speakers are often recruited.

  • Close monitoring and ensuring that students and volunteers are happy, healthy and in safe hands.

  • A slate of course offerings, workshops, etc., if desired.

  • A program for acquainting or re-acquainting children of overseas Jamaican parents with their Jamaican cultural roots.

  • Awards of credits and certification.
